Sunday, 1/19/2020 Morning Trails [Top]
General Information:
Comments -Sells and Strouds Long, 6:10AM-

Met with Dr. Wise and Jimmy for a AM long run from Sells. We travelled Rockhouse, Athens, Finger Rock, Thunderbunny, through the CG, back to Trace, Athens, back to sells, and then WIse and I added on the normal Sells Loop. I felt pretty solid all day. Legs a little burnt up the steep hills near the end, mostly because of a tight hip flexor, but overall good health.

Fantastic winter weather. Really enjoy these crisp blustery, snow spitting days. Took a poop on Thunderbunny and had to scour the frozen (Into the Unknown!) ground for decent leaves. Fast pit stop. Nice forest feel. Quick Fluff stop with the two boys after the run.

Monday, 1/20/2020 Afternoon Easy Run [Top]
General Information:
  Comments -Skinner to Cook, 2:40PM-

Just a simple 8 miler, out and back to Cook Rd. Felt really good today. Dealing with hip tightness since starting back running in December but it always works itself out during the run and tightens during the day. Need to be diligent on rolling it out and staying mobile. Came back a little quicker.

Wednesday, 1/22/2020 Afternoon Trails [Top]
General Information:
  Comments -Baileys Trails, 1:00PM-

I drove out and visited the Baileys Trail System for the first time. This large project that will have 88 miles of new singletrack has about 13 completed miles to this point. The trail builders are done for the winter, and I wouldn't have gone out there if the ground wasn't frozen. There is still work to be done on these 13 miles, but with it frozen right now it's perfect to try them out. I parked at the Chauncey Park, where the eventual TH will be.

I planned on doing a 5.5 mile loop that I saw someone else do on Strava. I figured it would be fairly self explanatory when I got out there but after about 4 miles it seemed I had yet to loop around. I must have missed a turn. I knew this tract of land was situated between 4 roads, and knew I couldn't get too lost, but I still had no idea how far I was out and where I was in relation to where I started. I decided to just stay on the trail and hope it got me around.

Fortunately I ended up back to the car about 11 miles later. I had to rush and leave to pick up Fern from school. Ended up a little late getting here. The plan was to just run 8 or so, with 3 miles on the gravel road so 11.5 miles, while nice to get the mileage, put me out there much longer than planned.

The trails were really nice. They have a great flow. They are certainly different than other trails around here and different than what I would prefer typically. But, I will love having these for just normal, easy running. The surface is smooth and the inclines are so gradual. There isn't a lot of elevation change and the uphill are long gradually built trails. This will be an awesome network when completed.

Thursday, 1/23/2020 Night Normal Run [Top]
General Information:
  Comments -Skinner Rd., 9:20PM-

Long day. I didn't do much but Thursdays I have both kids solo and I just didn't have time to get out and run. Bobbi had parent/teacher conferences today so she didn't get home until after 6:30 and by the time we got dinner and the kids ready for bed it was long after dark before getting out. I felt good today but just called it at 3 to take an easy day.

Sunday, 1/26/2020 Afternoon Long Run [Top]
General Information:
  Comments -Sells to Ridges, 7:10AM-

Ian Ackers was in town so we planned to link up. Same location and time as last week, without the young boys. Once we got to the Sells TH we decided to keep it dry because the trails were a mess from heavy rains. We ran to the Ridges along the BP and did a full Ridges Loop plus Dairy Barn Hill. We tacked on a short out and back on Rockhouse at the hens and then I added on a loop around the neighborhood solo for 15.

Felt good today. Slower pace bug nice to just chill and get caught up with Ian. Nice week, and more to build on.
