Try searching past forums. This is a very popular topic and has a couple of threads already with a bunch of posts that should answer your questions. |

The amount of miles per shoe will vary per person, I usually will buy a pair toward the end of track season (May) break them in walking for a couple weeks then use them for summer miles only, then do the same thing before I go to cross country camp (August). I will wear a new pair for a couple weeks before and use them for the whole season. I change them before I train for indoor (December) and if needed I change them before outdoor (March), but since my miles are usually lower for track I can go December to begining of May on one pair. But this will vary per person and shoes I train with Mizunos I have no idea for Nike's. I can typically get 500-600 miles on a pair of shoes. |

If you log your shoe with running2win, you can keep track and I think it says your shoes are expired after 300 (?) miles. This usually coincides with when my feet and/or legs start bugging me, and then when I get new shoes the problems go away. If you're not feeling any problems I wouldn't buy new shoes until you have to. |

the number 300 came from you. when you add a shoe it asks you to insert what you want the max miles to be on your shoe. the max number of miles always pops up as 300 to begin with, but you can change it to whatever you want. |

I spoke to Brooks running shoe company experts this past summer. Basically the average shoe should go 500 miles. But your weight and how you land can determine how long your shoe can last plus what kind of shoe and does it have additional gates or cushion. A good theory is when you feel a little twitch in your knee its time to replace them. I can usually get around 550 in my shoes then its time for the replacement. But if I was you I would try to run 1000 miles and ignore all pain, this will save you money on shoes. |

Yes, broke my first rule of forum etiquette and didn't search the topic first, sorry. Thanks for all the replies though. I will start shopping for the new shoes now and look toward getting them by 400 miles. For the record, I am 6'4 and 195, with a size 14 shoe. The shoe size is the killer, as nobody stocks them. |

If you go to a SPECIALTY RUNNING store the should have the shoes you need. From my experience at shopping and managing a running store they typically specialize in this sort of thing. At any given time we personally would have about 15 options for you. Again, from my experience, try a specialty store as oppose to a large box store (d**k's). This should help in finding your size and the right kind of shoe for you. |

For some strange reason, it's extremely hard to get the Vomero 4 in a size 14. Working at a running store, every time I go to order them, they have 100+ stock in a 13, and 100+ stock in the 15...but for the most part the 14s are zeroed out. We can only get them when someone cancels their future order... |
