What does everyone do to clean their XC spikes? I know my teammate soaks them in water but I heard that rusts the part were the metal spikes are inserted. Any recommendations?

I think you need to first put peanut butter on the bottom. This will get all the large particles off. After that, scrub it off using a toothbrush. Next you need to gargle saltwater, then use that to rinse out the little spike holes. For good measure, you might also want to use shampoo on the whole shoe; this will make it so it won't rust.

Haha sorry Reuven I couldn't resist!

I just toss the things in the washer, the rust isn't that big of a deal, by the time they become a problem for putting spikes in, it'll be time for a new pair anyway.

Unless you wash the things like f***ing Monk.

Yup.  Bang them clean and then run.

Brewpat is banging them at least three times, apparently.
