I'm really into running and I'm pretty good to but I would also like to put on some muscle but if I lift and run would running cripple how much muscle I would be able to build? And would gaining muscle cripple how fast I would be able to run?

Fact is, if you're a distance runner, you're not going to be a bulky guy. However, it's possible to gain some strength in your upper body while being a runner at the same time. Just stick to a consistent upper body routine (whatever yours may be), take in plenty of calories, and make sure you're recovering well.

It depends on your body. there are some guys on my team who a naturally built a little heavier and they run like tanks (in a good way). I'm kind of in the middle. If I lift I bulk up pretty easily but I find that I run better when I'm lean so I stick with core workouts and body weight stuff like push ups to keep toned but not put on bulk. I'd say you're better off just staying lean. That's more standard to runners. Embrace the skinniness.

I'm 6'3 and 205 lbs.  I'm not HUGE, but I fill my shirt wear i should, and i run. I train for Triathalons and lift weights. It's not impossible to be Mr. Oympia and run a half marathon with a decent time, but it's not realistic for normal people. I choose to be more large muscularly than be able to run a 5 minute mile. Now, i could do that if i was consistent with my training, and i'd still look bulky and be FAST. It's just how you train and what your real goals are. If you want to be a 1st class runner, watch the olympics and see what you can look like. If you dont mind 2nd class, then bulk and running can tie together just fine.

You can get completely jacked and still run 100 miles a week. Just don't be a p***y. Go to the gym everyday and workout hard for like an hour.

Does not compute.

I'll assist:

In road racing, the Clydesdale division is a division for heavyweight male runners. The weight minimum for Clydesdales is 200 pounds, although it can vary from race to race.
