I have been having this weird pain at the base of my second toe, next to the great toe, for the past 3 days and I'm not sure what caused it. It was swollen a little bit and hasn't 'swelled down' back to normal size when compared to the same toe on the other foot after icing it. Im guessing that its because I have a Morton's toe where the 2nd toe is longer than the fat toe but I'm not exactly sure and if anyone knows how to treat it and such I would greatly appreciate it.

This happened to my uncle. He needed immediate surgery to try and fight the compartment syndrome, but in the end it required amputation.

I have mortons toe and I had an issue when I started running.  I just started paying attention to the toe boxes of my shoes and made sure I always had enough room for my long toe without getting a shoe that was too big for my foot.  Been running for 10+ years since and haven't had an issue since.

If its swollen you might have a blister under the toe nail. My second toe on both feet is too long as well. It really sucked getting those blisters cuz it made my toes look swollen and made them super sensitive. Once I drained the blister, the nails would eventually fall off :/ making it even more painful to run and they take forever to grow back. Going a 1/2 size up in your running shoe should fix the problem though!

You have a great toe?  Mine's just okay, a little above average I guess.

A Morton's toe can be a big pain in the butt.  My Morton's toe is almost an inch longer than my "Great" toe.  Shoe selection is essential.  Asics and New Balance are two shoes that offer larger toe boxes, and I believe Mizuno's do also but I have never owned a pair.  Go to a running shoe store (like Second Sole-if there is one in your area), not a big box store and talk to people that run.  They will steer you in the right direction.  I used to run in Saucony's before I found out that after 20 miles my bloody and beaten toe nails fell off.  Good luck to you and keep pounding the roads, trails, track or whatever!!!!!
