All summer long I have battled a very tight right hamstring. I've tried a foam roller, stretching, and a heating pad, all of which just offered relief for a few days at best. Other than doing lunges or leg curls, does anybody have thoughts on how to strenthen hamstrings?

There are several glaring issues with this video . . . the oblivious aside, the flamboyant points he is making and the technique he utilizes is outstanding.  Try stretching differently and see how things go.  Report back in two weeks too, damn it!

And I completely agree with the theory that the only muscle you really need to stretch, injuries and chronic problems specific to individuals (i.e. those who get IT band issues and such) aside, is your hamstrings.

My college coach always recommended the exercise outlined on this page.

It's more for sprinters... but it couldn't hurt.

The glaring issue of that video is that the guy wears those shorts and hat for the public, yikes! As soon as I'm done typing this I will begin stretching and let you know how things progress.  Thanks for the info.

I do remember doing this back in High School. I will begin doing this and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the link.
